The sold-out engagement of August Wilson’s The Piano Lesson has been extended for a third time. Starring Brandon J. Dirden and Chuck Cooper, the Signature Theatre Company revival was originally scheduled to play through December 9, but will now run through January 13 at off-Broadway’s Irene Diamond Stage.
In addition to Dirden as Boy Willie and Cooper as Wining Boy, The Piano Lesson stars Jason Dirden as Lymon, James A. Williams as Doaker, Roslyn Ruff as Berniece, Eric Lenox Abrams as Avery, Alexis Holt as Maretha and Mandi Masden as Grace. Set in 1936 in Pittsburgh’s Hill District, The Piano Lesson tells the story of the Charles family, who is caught in a disagreement over whether to sell or keep an antique piano—their shared legacy.
The Piano Lesson includes scenic design by Michael Carnahan, costume design by Karen Perry, lighting design by Rui Rita, sound design by David Van Tieghem, original music by Bill Sims, Jr. and fight direction by J. David Brimmer.
